Marina Bay Countdown is the main public New Year's Eve event in Singapore, and the 2027 edition is listed for 31 December 2026 to 1 January 2027 at Marina Bay. As of 15 October 2026, the sources checked give only basic details, so this guide separates what is listed from what still needs confirming.
Traverz lists the organiser as the Urban Redevelopment Authority, supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, with the category as a fireworks and countdown event. Visit Singapore has a dedicated page for the event, described as dazzling fireworks, live events and memorable moments by the bay.
What is listed so far
| Item | Detail | Source note |
|---|---|---|
| Dates | 31 December 2026 to 1 January 2027 | Traverz |
| Venue | Marina Bay | Traverz, Visit Singapore |
| Organiser | URA, supported by STB | Traverz |
| Format | Fireworks and live events | Visit Singapore page description |
| Free viewing zones | Several zones around Marina Bay are free | Traveloka guide, dated 20 December 2025 |
The Traveloka guide is dated December 2025, which means it describes the previous edition, and any list of spots must be checked against 2026 arrangements. Traverz is a third-party listing and not an official source, so treat the organiser line as unconfirmed until URA or STB publishes it.
Free and paid viewing
The Traveloka guide says several zones around the countdown are completely free and names Merlion Park, Esplanade Waterfront and the Marina Bay area as popular public spots. A Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium page also covers the countdown and mentions a ticket price of S$20 with opening hours of 10.30am to 6pm. The text we saw does not say what that ticket is for, so the figure should not be quoted as the price of the countdown. If you see a paid option, check what it includes, such as a reserved space or a hotel package, and check who is selling it.
Where people usually watch
The spots named in the Traveloka guide are Merlion Park, Esplanade Waterfront and the Marina Bay area. This is last year's guide, so check whether the same spots are available and whether any are closed or limited in 2026. The research did not find a verified list of vantage points for 2026 and did not find crowd data for each place.
What to confirm
Because the 2026 programme was not found in detail, any article on this topic should say plainly which items have been announced. The following should be confirmed before publication and before attending:
- The programme and its timing, including fireworks and any shows before midnight.
- Open zones, closed zones and any crowd-control measures.
- Entry and exit rules for the main viewing areas.
- Whether any paid or ticketed viewing is offered, and by whom.
- Public transport arrangements, including extended train hours.
- Road closures around the bay.
Public transport and getting home
The most common challenge at large countdown events is leaving afterwards. Transport arrangements such as extended train services are usually announced by the operators and authorities, but the research did not find a 2026 notice, so check LTA and the MRT operators closer to the date. Do not assume extended hours until they are published. Plan an alternative route and consider leaving a little early or waiting for crowds to thin.
